A highly honoured horticulturalist

The very first Kew Guild Medal was bestowed upon Roy in 2008.

Roy is known for his work on the BBC's Gardeners' World programme and regularly appeared on the radio in Gardeners' Question Time. He was the first curator of the Hillier Arboretum and has travelled the world on plant finding expeditions. 

Among his honours, he has been awarded the Veitch Memorial Award and the Victoria Medal of Honour by the RHS and received his OBE for services to horticulture, promoted to a CBE later in 2014.
