Since joining OLIN nearly 30 years ago, Susan has risen to prominence in the field of landscape architecture as a designer, speaker, and writer and we are pleased to welcome her to the Kew Guild as an Honorary Fellow.

Susan's expertise in built landscapes interfacing with complex engineering systems, construction technologies, and ecological systems has applied to projects of myriad locales and typologies, including the initial phases of  the revitalization of Canary Wharf; American Embassies and Consulates in Berlin, Rio, Doha and Hyderabad; the Mission Bay Master Plan in San Francisco; the five-acre roof garden of the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah; the Anne d’Harnoncourt Sculpture Garden at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Dilworth Park, a vibrant civic plaza and transit center at Philadelphia’s historic City Hall.   Her love of natural systems and design has been demonstrated in the restoration of Philadelphia’s iconic Logan Circle and the Rodin Garden, as well as the Heritage Orchard and Four Seasons Garden for Grande headquarters in Wisconsin.

Her current work ranges from corporate Tech campuses in California to numerous projects for Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, the US Embassy in Brasilia, and a Women’s Leadership Center in the Midwest.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. She has taught at her UPenn Alma Mater as well as at the Pantheon Institute in Rome and the Illinois Institute of Technology.  Susan has lectured widely, including talks at the TEDx lecture series and panels at the American Society of Landscape Architects Annual Conference. Susan is the primary author of the book, Green Roof Systems: A Guide for the Planning, Design and Construction of Landscapes over Structure, which has become a primary resource on the topic of green roof design for landscape architects, architects, and engineers.
